How does a document library product make it into production for years on end without having proper move/copy functionality?
Microsoft Share Point 2010 is a complicated beast, with more knobs and levels than you can shake a stick at.
The product can close some gaps and solve many issues that still exists with the Microsoft out-of-the-box offerings.
