The Offline Address Book (OAB) for Exchange users is generated immediately when your account is created.
However, it becomes available only after maintenance tasks are completed on the Exchange server (usually around AM PST).
Note for Mac Users: Mac versions of Outlook do not connect to the Exchange server in the same way as PC versions.
Every time a Mac checks for new mail, it also updates the GAL.
If the sync does not completed before the client is taken off line, the user will receive the recommendation again.
The Global Address List is a directory of contact information that is stored in a central place called the Exchange Server.
RESOLUTION: To prevent the recommendation window from reoccurring, the user will need to completely reload the Global Address List from the server.
The user can do this by selecting Yes in the recommendation window or within Outlook by doing: Select Zimbra Tab Select Sync Global Address List Select Reset Global Address List Resetting the global address list will not replace the existing Global Address List until the sync has fully completed.
All versions: check Download changes since last Send/Receive box.
This document explains the process of how an individual can get their information updated in GAL.
I rebuilt the Default Offline Address List and downloaded the updated address book in outlook however there are still no updates.
