This bat is a fine example of the exceptional quality produced by the D&M Sporting Goods Company.
PLAYED 16 YEARS WITH THE PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES IN THE 40'S AND 50'S. HAS LONG CRACK OPPOSITE CENTER MARKINGS THAT WITH A COUPLE OF SMALL NAILS. KNOB HAS WHAT LOOKS LIKE 34 ½ AND ALSO IS STAMPED 8 0 IN TWO SPORTS. HAS REALLY STRONG MARKINGS ALTHOUGH THE DECAL IS WORN. THE FINISH ON THE BAT IS SUPER AND THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ANY DEAD WOOD. MEASURES 15 3/4" X 11 1/2" WITH STICKER ON BACK MADE IN ENGLAND. SOME VERY LIGHT SCUFFS ARE VISIBLE WHEN TURNED INTO LIGHT BUT LOOKING STRAIGHT AHEAD THEY ARE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE. There were Maxwell cleeks that had holes drilled in the hosel to reduce club weight, and putting cleeks with long, shallow faces but less loft than an ordinary cleek, designed for use on rough greens. However among collectors of antique golf clubs, cleek has come to refer to something more.
